Osteopathic Manipulation
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) are fully licensed and trained medical doctors. They can opt to go into any medical specialty or surgery. What makes them different from traditional MDs is their historical philosophy about the importance of the body’s structural system and its effects on one’s health and overall function. A key part of Osteopathic practice, for both pain and general health is OMT (osteopathic manipulative treatment). OMT encompasses a variety of manual techniques including spinal and extremity manipulation; soft tissue, myofacial and muscle treatment; and cranial techniques.
